Keyword Density In Your Content

keyword density and keyword placement

It seems that on page SEO has layers upon layers of potential optimization opportunities.

Starting with the keyword phrase and keyword selection all the way up to media SEO, we’ve given you the tools to execute a focused strategy for complete on page optimization, but there’s at least one more crucial step you should know about.

The ever-present keyword you’ve chosen way back at the beginning of this series has one final appearance to make before completing it’s work in on page SEO. Building informative content matters, and having your keywords laced throughout that content completes your on page efforts.

Let’s look at the specific places we can increase your keyword density inside published content.

Where to Place for Proper Keyword Density

Header: Everything has a headline. Pages, posts, newsletters, even emails have headlines or headers known as subject lines. In terms of HTML tags that means H1 through H6 or the various sizes of headers with 1 being the largest. Google bots parse the code version of your content locating keywords while giving value to header tags in their search algorithm. If your keyword is in that header you get an SEO gold star.

Footer: Whether it’s text content or an image, doctoring elements in the footer on a per-page basis may be a little tedious but it is one extra step that can be taken in an all out SEO war. It’s good to note that the effects of this are nominal but nominal doesn’t mean non-existant. Every little bit helps increase your keyword density.

Sitemap: People maybe don’t use sitemaps much but Google bots sure do. It’s more or less a roadmap for the bots to quickly digest what is available on your site. Pages and published content that hasn’t been scanned will be that much easier for bots to find in subsequent searches. If all your pages, urls and keywords align the bots will take notice and your SERP postion will climb.

Bolds/italics/underlines: When you type out a document or letter in business you can add emphasis to certain words or point of interest with bolds and italics. They simply draw the eye of people and Google bots. They see the HTML version of bold and italic as <strong> and <em>. Anyway you read it the SEO factor is the same. Emphasize your keywords in your content and Google bots can’t help but take notice.

Content: Beyond all those previous tips simply writing about your topic, and therefore your related keyword, in your body copy makes a difference. For one thing it keeps the content honest and subject related, and you get an SEO boost that some other optimizers might have missed.

It’s best to leave no stone unturned when processing content for maximized SEO. All on page SEO factors, from the most important to least significant, will give your site more power. It just makes sense to take advantage of every opportunity.
